Zoom Phone - Desktop App
The Zoom Desktop App is your primary location for managing your phone calls, voicemail, SMS, and other entitled features of our campus phone system. Below are common questions and information needed to maximize your use.
How do I make a call ?
In the Zoom desktop client or mobile app, click or tap the Phone tab
Enter a name, number, or extension.
Click or tap the blue phone icon
How do I transfer a call ?
While on a call, click or tap Transfer.
Enter the name of the person to transfer to.
Click or tap the blue transfer icon
Select the transfer method.
Can I change a call to a Zoom Meeting?
Yes. While in a call click Meet. The meeting will transfer to an instant Zoom meeting.
How do I use SMS within Zoom?
In the Zoom desktop client or mobile app, click or tap the Phone tab
Click or tap the SMS tab.
Click or tap the pencil icon
At the top, enter the phone number.
At the bottom, enter your message then press Enter on your keyboard.
How do I access my voicemail?
In the Zoom desktop client or mobile app, click or tap the Phone tab
Click or tap Voicemail.
Locate the voicemail you want to listen to, and click or tap Play.
Your voicemail greeting can only be adjusted through the web portal. Please review or Web Portal instructions for details.
Can I switch calls between desktop, mobile, or physical phone?
Call flip allows you to place your current Zoom Phone call on hold and answer it on another device (Zoom desktop client, mobile app, or provisioned desk phone).
How to initiate a call flip (originating device)
Make or receive a call using the Zoom desktop client, mobile app, or a provisioned desk phone.
Place the call on hold using the in-call controls.
The other party will hear hold music while they are on hold.
How to answer a held call (destination device)
Desktop client or mobile app
Click or tap the Phone icon.
Click or tap the Lines tab to see the call you have placed on hold.
Click or tap the hold icon to answer the call.
Desk phone
Go to the home screen of your desk phone.
Look for the phone line that is on hold. This is usually indicated by a Hold / Public Hold label, red icon, hold icon , or blinking red light if your phone has line keys.
Press or tap the phone line to answer the call.
