Google Workspace Core Apps vs Consumer Apps

UNC Asheville provides Google Workspace for Education accounts to all students, faculty and staff of the university. The services and applications available to these accounts fall into one of two categories.

Core Google Workspace Apps

Core apps are governed by the Google Workspace Education Edition agreement between UNC Asheville and Google. These apps are available to all @unca.edu Google Workspace accounts and are supported by ITS.

Consumer Google Workspace Apps

Consumer apps are not covered by the Google Workspace Education Edition agreement between UNC Asheville and Google. Instead, consumer apps are governed by agreements (Terms of Service) between you the user and Google.

Consumer apps are not enabled for @unca.edu accounts and are not supported by ITS. Examples of consumer apps include, but are not limited to:
