Meeting Use to Replicate a Webinar

Purpose

This article outlines the process of configuring and managing a Zoom Meeting to replicate Webinar functionality. 

Schedule a Zoom Meeting

A Zoom Meeting can be scheduled with the following settings.

Video 

Host: On

Participant: Off

Meeting Options

Mute participants upon entry: Yes 

During the meeting

When the meeting is ongoing, the host can make changes to the following settings. 

Audio

Allow participants to unmute themselves: No 

Mute all 

Play enter / exit chime: No 

Participants

Participants can chat with: Host only

Allow participants to rename themselves: No

Chat

The Zoom Chat function can be used for short questions or participants can enter their “Zoom Name” to identify that they have a question.  The Host will then unmute their microphone for the duration of that specific question and answer. Email or google doc sessions may also be used for Q&A. 

  • Participants can start their video. Assign a co-host(s) during the meeting to help manage participants and chat.
