Speed dial
Contact the IT Service Desk if you have trouble following any of these steps.
- Go to: https://152.18.243.225:8443/ccmuser
- On the screen that follows, click the option to "Continue to this website (not recommended)"
- Enter your UNC Asheville username and the new password that you have chosen and click on Login
- On this next screen look under where you see the name Cisco that is in red for the words “User Options”. If you put your cursor on User Options you will get a drop down menu. Click on “Device”.
- You will now be on the Device Configuration screen. Click on Speed Dials.
- You are now ready to assign your speed dials. You can assign either an extension number or off-campus phone number. Just remember that if the number is an off-campus number you will need to type 9 and the number. Under label show who or what this number is associated with and press enter. Once you have entered your speed dial numbers click on save. You may want to make copy of your speed dial numbers for quick reference before existing out of the system. You can add or change a speed dial number at anytime by following steps 1 through 5.
- To dial one of your speed dial numbers you will first leave the receiver in the its cradle. Press the number that is associated with the speed dial number that you want to dial. Now press the soft key on your phone that says “AbbrDial”. Pick up your receive and be connected to the ringing number.
Muting a call
(Model 7942 & 7962 Only)
- Press the Mute button.
- To disengage mute, press the Mute button again.
Note: If you are using mute along with the speakerphone, lifting the Handset will disengage mute.
Transferring a call
While on an active call:
- Press the Trnsfer soft key.
- Dial the number to which you are transferring the call.
- When you hear ringing, press the Trnsfer soft key again (this is a BLIND transfer), OR when the party answers, you may announce the call and press the Trnsfer soft key (this is a WARM transfer).
- Hang up to end your participation in the call.
Note: To get the caller back, simply press the Line button again.
Forwarding calls
This feature allows calls to your primary extension to be redirected to another extension number (i.e. another phone or to voicemail. You can forward incoming calls to an IP phone or non-IP phone on or off campus.
To forward incoming calls:
- Press the CFwdAll soft key.
- Dial the number to which you are transferring the call.
- Dial an on-campus extension number (e.g.
5555
), or 9 + local 7 digit number to where you want your calls directed. For example, if your off-campus number is 828-555-1234, enter95551234
.
To cancel forward:
- Press the CFwdAll soft key.
Holding a call
Model 7911:
- Press the Hold Button to take on or off hold.
Models 7942 & 7962:
- During an active call, press the Hold soft key.
- To return to the call, press the Resume soft key.
Parking a call
Park a call when you want to store a call and retrieve that call from another phone. Calls are parked for three minutes. While on an active call:
- Press the More soft key until you see the Park tab
- Press Park. The LCD screen displays the special call park number at which the call is stored
- Make a note of the call park number, and then hang up. The call is parked at that number, allowing you to retrieve it from another phone.
Retrieving a Parked Call
To retrieve a parked call from any phone, dial the call park number at which the call is parked.
Last number redial
- Lift the Handset and press the Redial soft key, OR;
- Press the Redial soft key to place the call via Speakerphone.
Call history
Call History gives you a list of missed calls, received calls or calls placed at your phone.
- Press the Applications Menu button.
- Use the Navigation Button to highlight Directories.
- Use the Navigation Button to highlight the desired call history option: Missed Calls, Received Calls, or Placed Calls.
- Press the Select soft key to display the desired call history.
- To Speed Dial a number, use the Navigation Button to highlight the desired number and press the Dial soft key. (If you decide not to make the call, press the Exit soft key twice to exit the Directories menu.)
Audio features
Changing a Ringer Type
- Press the Applications Menu button.
- Use the Navigation Button to highlight Settings, then User Preferences, then Rings, then Default Ring.
- Press the Select soft key to display a list of Ring Types.
- Use the Navigation Button to highlight one of the available Ring Types.
- Press the Play soft key to hear a Ring Type.
- Press Select, and then press the OK soft key to choose the Ring Type and Exit.
- Press the Exit soft key to save your selection and return to the main menu.
Adjusting the Ringer Volume
- While the phone is not on a call, press the Up or Down Volume button to hear a sample ring.
- As the ring plays, press the Up or Down Volume button to adjust the volume to the desired level.
Adjusting the Handset, Speakerphone, and Headset Volume
- During a call, press the Up or Down Volume button to adjust the volume of your Handset, speakerphone, or headset.
- To save the volume setting, press the Save soft key.
Note: The volume setting will only be changed for the option being used.
