Backups and Disaster Recovery

What is it?

ITS provides backup and recovery of central digital resources via software tools and hardware infrastructure. Backups are run automatically on a regular schedule (usually off hours). Restoration of data is performed on request or as needed. Special backups are performed prior to system upgrades and patching as required. Disaster recovery planning is managed by ITS in conjunction with our staff, staff at the Western Data Center (WDC) and MCNC and our local internal auditor.

When is it available?

Regularly scheduled each day.

Who can use it?

Backup/recovery actions performed by ITS Systems Administration personnel. Special requests can be made by faculty and staff.

How much does it cost?

There is no cost associated with this service.

Where to get help?

The IT Service Desk should be your first point of contact for technical assistance. Contact the Service Desk by sending an email to itservicedesk@unca.edu or calling 828-251-6445.  The IT Service Desk Self-Service Portal is also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Self-Service portal allows you to request assistance from ITS using a simple web form.
