Java Security Exceptions (when Banner/WebFocus doesn't load)
When a user logs into Banner or Webfocus, but the site never loads.
The UNC Asheville Banner site must be added as an Exception Site for users who have installed Java 7 Update 51 or later. The Exception Site List feature is being introduced in the release of Java 7 Update 51. By adding application URL to the Exception list allows users to run Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) that would normally be blocked by security checks.
Windows

Manage the Exception Site List
Important: After updating to Java 7 Update 51 or later on Windows, the Java Control Panel should be accessed via Start > All Programs > Java > Configure Java and not from the Windows Control Panel. The Windows Control Panel may not show the necessary "Edit Site List" option.
The exception site list is managed in the Security tab of the Java Control Panel. The list is shown in the tab. To add, edit or remove a URL from list, Click Edit Site List and follow the directions shown.
Add a URL
Click on the Edit Site List button.
Click the Add in the Exception Site List window.
Click in the empty field under Location field to enter the URLs:

Click OK to save the URLs that you entered.
Click Continue on the Security Warning dialog.
Restart your web browser and confirm you are able to access Banner.
Mac
The Banner Exception Site should be automatically configured for Mac users. Java 7 may be installed via Self Service. This installation will automatically add the necessary exception to allow Banner access.
To manually add an additional exception:
Open System Preferences
Click "Java" to open the Java Control Panel
Navigate to the "Security" tab
Click Edit Site List
Click in the empty field under Location field to enter the URLs:

Click OK to save the URLs that you entered.
Click OK to close the Java Control Panel.
Restart your web browser and confirm you are able to access Banner.
